UNITS
Specialty Markets is the marketing and underwriting division of Munich Reinsurance America, Inc. serving clients who are not traditional insurance companies.

The Specialty Markets division of Munich Reinsurance America, Inc. sets the standard of service in meeting the needs of clients other than traditional insurance companies. Our clients include not only alternative market entities, such as risk retention groups, pools, trusts, reciprocals, and captives, but also managing general agents, managing general underwriters, and program administrators that provide specialized, niche insurance programs. Our deep understanding of insurance and reinsurance, coupled with our unmatched experience in the alternative market, assures that our clients receive superior service from our best-in-class professionals.

We segment our business by client type rather than by line of business. This simplifies your interaction with us by allowing multi-line coverage to be delivered through a single point of contact in one of our three client groups:

Primary Insurance Program Client Group: Serves the needs of managing general agents, managing general underwriters, and program administrators focused on primary insurance program business
Umbrella Insurance Program Client Group: Serves the needs of managing general agents, managing general underwriters, and program administrators focused on supported and unsupported excess/umbrella insurance program business
Alternative Market Risks Client Group: Serves the needs of self-insurers, risk retention groups, pools, trusts, reciprocals, and captives. Within the Alternative Market Client Group there are two subgroups. Our Public and Nonprofit Risks unit works with public entities, scholastic entities, religious organizations, and secular nonprofit organizations. Our Group Commercial Risks unit works with groups whose members are commercial entities.

We also serve:
Individual Commercial Risks: Larger commercial/industrial risks (property risks only) brokered in the United States.
Property Engineered Risks: Owners and contractors of large contruction projects, operational energy facilities, and infrastructure risks.
